... Read moreOkay, so if you saw my last post, you know the Black Romance Book Fest in Atlanta was an absolute dream! I just had to share more of the amazing authors I got to meet and the incredible books I discovered. This festival is truly a highlight for any Black romance enthusiast, bringing together such diverse voices and powerful stories. Walking through the festival halls, the energy was electric. There's nothing quite like connecting with authors whose words have impacted you, and getting to chat with them in person. This year, I was particularly thrilled to cross paths with several phenomenal writers. First up, getting to meet Zee Renee was fantastic. Her books like Troubled Waters and Christmas with the Lewises are on my list for a reason—they dive deep into compelling narratives. Then there was A.C. Valdez, whose work, including Unexpected Inevitability and *All I've Wanted All I've Needed*, really resonates with readers looking for passionate and intricate plots. I love discovering how authors craft such rich worlds. And of course, it was an honor to meet Tia Williams! Her novel Seven Days in June is a masterpiece, and I was so excited to get my copy signed. If you haven't read A Love Song for Ricki Wilde yet, add it to your queue – her storytelling is just captivating. I also had a wonderful chat with Kimberly Brown, whose titles like Under the Influence and Until They Call offer such gripping reads within the urban fiction romance genre. It's always inspiring to hear about their writing process. Finally, meeting Quasim and seeing the cover for Captive definitely piqued my interest. These indie authors are truly pushing boundaries in romance! Beyond the author interactions, the Black Romance Book Fest itself is an experience. It’s a vibrant community where you can find everything from steamy contemporary romance to historical sagas, and always with powerful Black protagonists at the heart of the story. If you're looking for new books to add to your Kindle Unlimited recommendations, this event is a goldmine. For anyone thinking about attending the Black Romance Book Fest in Atlanta next time – and trust me, you should! – mark your calendars for May 30-June 1, 2025. Here are a few tips I've picked up: Plan Ahead: Check the author schedule, panel discussions, and signing times. Some authors have long lines! Bring Books (or Buy There!): While you can buy books at the fest, bringing a few favorites you already own for signing can save you time. Network: Connect with other readers! It's a great way to get personalized recommendations and make new friends who share your passion for black authors and romance. Explore Indie Authors: Don't just stick to the bestsellers. Many incredible indie authors are present, ready to share their unique stories. I found so many gems by just browsing! Comfortable Shoes are a Must: You'll be doing a lot of walking and standing. This festival truly celebrates Black voices in romance, and I'm already counting down the days until the next one. It’s an essential event for discovering your next favorite urban fiction romance or indie author. Happy reading, everyone!
