1 Peter 1:17-25 🥹#christantiktok #biblestudy #peter #godisgood #thankyoulord
Lately, I've been reflecting on how quickly time flies and how many things around us seem so temporary. One moment something feels incredibly important, the next it's a distant memory. This feeling often brings to mind that powerful passage from 1 Peter 1:24-25, which really puts our existence into perspective: 'People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.' It’s such a poignant reminder that our physical lives, our achievements, even our earthly passions, are all transient, like the beautiful but short-lived bloom of a flower. But here’s where the incredible hope comes in! Even though we are 'temporary residents' here on earth, as verse 17 reminds us, we're not without an anchor. What a comfort to know that unlike everything else, 'the word of the Lord remains forever.' This isn't just an abstract concept; it's the very foundation of our faith. It's the 'Good News' that was preached to us, offering something truly eternal. This truth helps us navigate a world where many things, including religious beliefs for some, can feel like they're fading or shifting. Instead, we're rooted in something unchanging. The verses leading up to this also highlight how we should live in light of this truth. If we know that our heavenly Father will 'judge or reward us according to what we do' (v.17), and that we've been saved from an 'empty life' not with gold or silver, but with the 'precious blood of Christ' (v.18-19), then how does that change our daily choices? For me, it means striving to be 'holy in everything I do' (v.15), not out of fear, but out of a deep gratitude for the incredible sacrifice. It means checking my motives and asking myself if I'm slipping back into 'old ways of living to satisfy my own desires' (v.14), or if I'm truly living as God's 'obedient child.' And what truly touched me in this passage is the call to love. After being 'cleansed from our sins when we obeyed the truth,' we are called to 'show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters' and to 'Love each other deeply with all your heart' (v.22). In a world where so many things feel uncertain and temporary, the eternal word of God gives us clear instructions on how to live a life that actually matters, a life that reflects His enduring love. It reminds me that my 'new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God' (v.23). This passage truly strengthens my faith and helps me prioritize what's truly everlasting, encouraging me to feed on 'pure spiritual milk' to grow in His truth, standing firm in His unfailing word.
