Having recently read Soul Eater, the first book in the Monstrous Series by Lily Mayne, I found the blend of post-apocalyptic survival and paranormal romance truly captivating. The setting immediately grabbed me—a world where a catastrophic dimensional tear has unleashed monsters that have devastated society, forcing humanity into coastal cities. Danny, the protagonist, faces intense choices that shape not only his fate but the future of humanity. His internal conflict between military service and the dangerous Wastes adds deep emotional layers to the story. What I appreciated most was how the author developed the monster lore in a believable yet imaginative way, creating a dark and immersive atmosphere. The paranormal mm romance element felt fresh and well-integrated, offering heartfelt moments amid the chaos. If you enjoy stories combining action, monster mythology, and a romantic subplot that defies conventions, this book is worth picking up. Furthermore, the character-driven narrative made me reflect on themes of loyalty, courage, and identity under extreme circumstances. The pacing was excellent, balancing suspenseful military missions with tender interpersonal interactions. As a fan of supernatural romance with a strong dystopian twist, I found Soul Eater an exciting start to the Monstrous Series that left me eager for the next installment.
