Spiritual Transformation

“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.”

Psalms 40:2

I first began noticing dragonflies in 2023 and around this time each year, I see them emerging again. At the time, I didn’t share my observations because it didn’t feel like the right moment. Now, however, I sense in my spirit that the time has come to share the insights and revelations they have given me, as everything is beginning to connect.

Dragonflies undergo a dramatic transformation. They disappear from sight as young nymphs and later emerging from the water as fully developed, winged creatures.

The dragonfly begins its life as a small, muddy creature dwelling in murky waters. As it matures, it climbs out of the mud onto a stalk of grass, where the warmth of the sun and the breath of the wind guide its transformation. Its old shell cracks open, revealing delicate, sparkling wings.

Once fully emerged, it takes a leap of faith, soaring across the water, an image of spiritual growth and transformation. This remarkable process parallels the powerful spiritual renewal that comes from God. In that hidden stage, the transformation takes place unseen, a work of change carried out in quiet isolation until the moment of emergence.

Just as the dragonfly rises from the mud into the light, we too can rise from hardship, renewed and uplifted by divine grace. Even in its final stage, the dragonfly’s act of consuming mosquitoes, creatures that are both bothersome and harmful can symbolize overcoming trials and obstacles.

Psalm 40:2 captures this truth: “He lifted me out of the horrible pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Like the dragonfly, many are called to shed the old, rise into your divine potential and shine with confidence in the light of Jesus.
