Save $$$ Getting Pampered 💅

Something we alll (or at least I) seem to forget is the power of a cosmetology school… 💄 💇🏽‍♀️ 💅 🪮💆🏽‍♀️

Here are some things to do if you haven’t jumped on this train yet:

💋 Search online nearby cosmetology schools

💋 Do some research on that school by looking at their socials for recent photos, finding any package deals that may seem of interest for you and a friend or relative - deep dive what’s offered and get an idea of pricing.

💋 Compare if it’s worth it! Are you looking for a blunt cut like me? Try the school! ✔️ I used to pay literally $40-80 for a blunt *trim*… and it wouldn’t even be all that great. I definitely would be embarrassed to go back in to have them fix it and also didn’t want to put more

in for the most simple cut, so I either wouldnt or I’d go someplace new and pay the same.

💋 These schools usually offer basic cuts for less than $10! 😱 Even layers may be part of that price point. If you already have color and want more of the same, you may have to look elsewhere if you don’t want it to change a bit in formula used and such… but if you are willing to spice things up, go for it! Honestly, the more color that you already have, the easier it is for them to touch it up rather than start fresh… because as all non-natural blondes know, that takes numerous appointments to achieve the best results.

💋 Students always have their work looked over by a licensed cosmetologist instructor. 👩🏻‍🏫 🙌🏽

💋 If you end up seeing something you don’t like when you get home 😕, don’t be afraid to make that call… ☎️ Remember to be kind about the situation (despite it being something as big as your hair) and remember that this is a learning experience the student too.

💋 Most schools WILL fix an issue they caused at no additional cost! 😀 They use these situations as a learning experience! And while these students will get plenty of mean Karen’s throughout their career raining on their parade of art, they are students now and deserve to be uplifted rather than put down. Also, remember that it might be embarrassing for their colleagues/roommates/peers to see that they have to fix something for someone they just had in come in. So, please, don’t reprimand them.

💋 Also, please try to tip 💵 when possible! And please don’t refuse to tip for an issue out of their control… we sometimes forget that these students work without being paid… they are paying for an education to do aesthetics and learn everything about people’s hair - including doing it for no profit - so pls do not cut their tip… even a few bucks is kind.

Final pointers:

💋 Call ahead to book an appointment with someone near graduation👩🏽‍🎓(aka the most experienced students)

💋 Look for online deals on websites and socials for specials like offers for certain days of the week or additional coupons.

💋 Bring a few bucks/cash for a tip (they usually don’t have an option to tip via card due to tax purposes)

💋 Most schools have expanded their offerings to help prepare their students for salons that are doing the same. So, no only do they usually offer all hair services (cuts, styling, colors - balayage, foils, full color, etc -, perms, blowouts), but they also might offer facials, nails, waxing, massages, lashes, makeup, and MORE!

So, in sum, If you are looking to try something new, this would be the place to do so without paying a huge amount for something you may not be all that interested in. And if you are someone who just needs a basic trim but wants to stay with the up and coming trends, this is also the place to go without breaking the banks! 💰 💋 🪮💅

I’m honestly just really lucky they are only a few blocks from me. 😍
