The Worst Hotel in JB

📍Address: OYO 428 HOPE HOTEL

It was an impromptu decision to stay overnight. Supposed to be a day trip to JB and return to SG but we ended dinner quite late and the jam was so bad on the Saturday, therefore decided to look for affordable 1 night stay in JB.

As you may know last min bookings are always so ex. So we tried for agoda and based on review they seem to be quite good for the price.

Paid SGD 45 per night by the way.

All I wanted was a good night rest and the next morning head back to singapore. I was so tired and just wanted to crash for the night.

Decided to wash up and omg, there's 2 cockroaches! At that moment just wanted to return home ASAP. Tried calling the reception , there's nobody. The only person available can't converse in English. Seriously like worst day of my life. Since already paid and too tired so nvm.

Told myself to just close the door and tried to sleep. The whole room had the icky smell , I just felt like it's not clean. So slept for 2 hours to recharge and had enough, so we drove back home straight away.

I didn't even take any pictures cause it looks really bad , very different from their photos on agoda. Don't even know why there's good review.

The worst is when I was back home, got sick and doctor said bacteria infection. Damn it!

Moral of the story , please please book in advance and go for reputable hotels.

... Read moreDuring my unexpected overnight stay at OYO 428 HOPE HOTEL in Johor Bahru, I quickly learned the importance of thorough hotel research and booking in advance, especially when traveling to busy places like JB. One troubling aspect was the lack of proper communication—there was nobody at reception when I tried to reach out, and the only person available couldn't speak English. This made it impossible to address any issues or seek assistance promptly, amplifying the discomfort. The room was far from what was shown in Agoda's photos. The presence of cockroaches and an unpleasant stench suggested poor hygiene standards, which unfortunately led to me falling ill with a bacterial infection shortly after returning home. From this experience, I recommend other travelers: - Always check recent, verified reviews before booking budget hotels. - Consider reputable hotel chains even if the price is higher. - Avoid last-minute bookings whenever possible, especially on weekends or holidays. - If facing language barriers, try to communicate through written messages or use translation apps beforehand. By sharing this, I hope others avoid similar distress and enjoy a safe, clean place to rest during their trips to Johor Bahru or elsewhere.

Don't book this hotel unless St Giles is sold out.
We booked Hotel Opero becos St Giles was not available for our traveling dates. Turns out the room is small and standard. Nothing to shout about. Location is off. And "service" is very passive and lukewarm. Facilities are pretty basic--the pools' quite pathetically small, and it's

JB Trip at 5* Hotel
A short escape that felt… unexpectedly calming. Just about 20 minutes from the Singapore causeway, this 5-star hotel sits slightly away from the JB hustle—and honestly, that’s part of the charm. 🛏 The Room I had a spacious room with a surprisingly soothing view—greens in the foreground, the

Austin Park Hotel Review, Mount Austin JB Malaysia
Austin Park Hotel offers clean rooms with all the basic amenities you need. It's not overly lavish, but for the price, it delivers solid value. The location is a major plus—situated near the bustling streets of Mount Austin, with plenty of food options and massage spots just steps away. O
