Letter To Myself 🥹💓

Dear Me,

You and I go way back, to the beginning. We're one hundred percent connected in a way no one will-or could ever-understand. We've been there, standing together. Sometimes crying in the shower, sometimes busting out in laughter, but it's always been you and me. Always and forever...

Or so it was supposed to be, but some time ago I left you…

i left you on your own, to rely on love and encouragement and strength from others-from strangers-when it was me who should have held you up. When it was me who should have hugged you and praised you and appreciated you for the wondrous person you are-for all the beauty and life you bring to this world .

... Read moreWriting that letter to myself was one of the most profound experiences I've had. It's easy to get lost in the day-to-day, forgetting to check in with the most important person: ourselves. If you've ever felt a disconnect, or like you've left a part of yourself behind, writing an emotional letter to yourself can be incredibly healing. But why bother? For me, it was about acknowledging my journey, both the triumphs and the tears. It’s a space where you can be brutally honest without judgment. Think of it as a conversation with your deepest self, a chance to offer the same compassion and understanding you'd give a best friend. It helps you recognize your own strength and beauty, something we often overlook. Just like taking a moment for a reflective selfie can capture a fleeting emotion, putting your feelings into words can immortalize a moment of self-discovery and self-love. So, how do you even start? It can feel a bit daunting at first. Find a quiet spot where you won't be interrupted. Grab a pen and paper – there’s something wonderfully therapeutic about physically writing, though typing works too! Don't overthink it. Just start with "Dear Me" or "Dear [Your Name]" and let your thoughts flow. Maybe think about a specific period in your life you want to address. Were there moments you wish you had treated yourself with more kindness? Or perhaps times you endured challenges and came out stronger? Consider these prompts to get started: Acknowledge a past struggle: "I remember when you went through [situation], and I want you to know how proud I am of you for [action/resilience]." Celebrate your strengths: "You are [adjective], and I love that about you because [reason]." Forgive yourself: "It’s okay that you [mistake/regret]. You were doing the best you could, and you learned so much from it." Express gratitude: "Thank you for [positive quality/action], it brings so much [feeling] into my life." Offer encouragement for the future: "I believe in you, and I know you can [future goal/challenge]. Remember to always [piece of advice]." It's not just about dwelling on the past; it's about connecting your past self to your present self, and setting intentions for your future self. The act of writing allows for deep self-reflection, helping you see how far you've come. Looking back at my own letter, it’s a powerful reminder of personal growth, a testament to the fact that I've learned to appreciate the wondrous person I am. The woman with long, curly red hair captured in those selfies can look back and see her journey of self-acceptance and growing joy. This isn't a one-time exercise. As we evolve, so do our needs and understanding of ourselves. I encourage you to revisit this practice whenever you feel the need for a deeper connection or just a gentle reminder of your inherent worth. It’s a powerful tool for cultivating a healthy lifestyle and ensuring you're always your own biggest supporter. Give yourself that hug, offer that praise, and truly appreciate the beautiful life you bring to the world. You deserve all the love you give.
