UK | Isle of Skye: Old Man of Storr Trail 💚

There are so many beautiful places to explore while in Isle of Skye but one you definitely should not miss is the Man of Storr. There's a trail that takes to The Storr (The Old Man of Storr Trail) and we really enjoyed this relatively straightforward trail in -thankfully- dry weather.

We honestly took 2 tries to the foot of the trail before deciding to go because the weather on the first afternoon was rainy and we read that the trail would be muddy. We took an early night in and were blessed with clear weather the next day! If you can, definitely leave room for flexibility.

The Old Man of Storr Trail, Isle of Skye, UK

Old Man of Storr Car Park, Skye IV51 9HX, United Kingdom

💚 ₤3 parking for vehicles, otherwise free to access

💚 4.2 km (2.6 miles) round trip, takes 1.5 hours to complete and longer with more stops

💚 It's a steady incline and requires no scrambling but can get tiring after a while!

💚 Such a lush trail and so nice when it's clear, be wary of hiking in wet weather as it can be muddy and might not be much visibility.

Highly recommend :)

... Read moreThe Old Man of Storr is one of the most iconic landscapes in Scotland, standing tall over the dramatic scenery of the Isle of Skye. The hike to the Old Man of Storr offers panoramic views that showcase the rugged beauty of the Highlands. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a beginner, this trail is inviting for all levels. Plan to dedicate around 1.5 hours for the 4.2 km (2.6 miles) round trip, providing ample opportunity to take in the picturesque scenery and capture stunning photographs. The path leading up to the Old Man features a steady incline that allows a pleasant hike without the need for scrambling, making it family-friendly. However, hikers should be prepared for the unpredictable Scottish weather. While clear days can provide captivating vistas, wet conditions can turn the path muddy and limit visibility. Therefore, it's wise to check weather forecasts before heading out. Flexibility in your schedule can make your visit more enjoyable, as waiting for a clear day can be worth the wait for the breathtaking views that await. Don't forget to explore nearby areas after completing the hike, as the Isle of Skye has much more to offer, including enchanting towns, majestic waterfalls, and beautiful lochs. For those traveling by car, parking at the Old Man of Storr is reasonably priced at ₤3, ensuring you have a spot to rest before or after your adventure. Overall, the Old Man of Storr Trail provides a unique combination of stunning geological formations and a manageable hiking experience, making it a highlight for any trip to the Isle of Skye.
