This was the WORST DAY in Norway 😮💨🇳🇴
My least favorite day in Norway 🙃
And don’t get me wrong, these were some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen! This route is so popular for a good reason, but it just wasn’t my favorite especially after 2.5 weeks of self-driving Northern Norway where there were far less tour buses and hordes of people pushing up against you.
It was good for the experience, and if you must - let it be the first thing you do in Norway. Everything will be much better from there!

Exploring Norway can be a breathtaking experience, especially if you're venturing into popular routes like 'Norway in a Nutshell.' This journey showcases some of Norway's most incredible natural wonders, including the stunning fjords that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. However, be prepared for the reality of tourism: packed pathways, crowded viewpoints, and long wait times at every stop along the way. Travelers often report that peak seasons can be overwhelming, making it challenging to fully enjoy the beauty around you. To mitigate the tourist influx, consider traveling during off-peak times, which can also provide you with clearer skies and less crowded scenery. For those who are planning a self-booked adventure, understanding the time allocation for each leg of your journey is crucial, especially since some excursions, like the Flambana historic railway, can be particularly busy. Don’t forget to factor in your travel costs; booking ahead can provide savings while ensuring you avoid long queues. Combining necessary trips with some secluded spots can lead to a more enjoyable trip overall, balancing the iconic must-sees with the serene corners of Norway. Whether you enjoy hiking, fjord cruises, or experiencing local culture, Norway has something for everyone—all while maintaining that extraordinary Scandinavian charm.

I did this exact thing when I was there in August! It was a bit hectic because of all the tourists, but totally worth it. Hope you had fun in Norway overall! 🫶🇳🇴
