Good Ole Home Cookin

Just a simple meal that can be thrown into the crock pot for a easy meal on a busy day. This one was perfect for a busy day of babysitting.

1 bag of baby potatoes, sliced into 4

kilbasi sausage or meat of choice, sliced

1 small onion, diced

garlic, minced or powdered

grean beans or cabbage

1 to 1 1/2 cups water

Other seasonings of your choice. I did salt & pepper, slap ya mamma, and parsley.

Throw it in a crock pot and cook on high or just cook on the stove until your potatoes are soft.

The combination of baby potatoes and kilbasa sausage works wonderfully because the potatoes absorb all the savory flavors while cooking, making each bite delicious and comforting. For busy days, I usually prep everything in the morning—slicing the potatoes and sausage, dicing onions, and adding my favorite seasonings such as garlic and parsley—then let it cook for several hours. One tip is to experiment with different vegetables; if green beans or cabbage aren’t your favorite, try adding carrots or bell peppers for added nutrition and sweetness. Also, using broth instead of water can enhance the flavor even more. Adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or a squeeze of lemon juice right before serving can brighten the dish and balance the richness of the sausage. Cooking on the stove works well, but I love the convenience of the crock pot for this recipe, especially when babysitting or managing other tasks. You can easily adjust the seasonings to your taste, whether that’s adding a smoky paprika, cayenne pepper for heat, or your favorite spice blend like slap ya mama seasoning as suggested. This recipe truly embodies simple soul food—no complicated steps, just comforting ingredients coming together to create a satisfying meal. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and versatile, making it perfect for anyone looking to enjoy good ole home cookin’ with minimal effort.
