The $1 Aisle at DOLLAR GENERAL is one of my favorite places to explore. I always find so many gems there - and for even less expensive than Dollar Tree!
All three of these medications are a BUY!
All-Day Allergy Relief is cetirizine hcl 10 mg - same active ingredient as Zyrtec!
Pain Relief PM is Acetaminiphen 500 mg plus Diphenhydramine HCL 25 mg aka Tylenol PM.
Ibuprofen 200 mg = Advil!!
Hey Lemon8 fam! So, you've seen my post about those amazing $1 finds at Dollar General, right? I wanted to dive a little deeper because I know a lot of you are probably wondering, 'Can I really trust dollar store medications?' And the answer is, for many, YES! I've been a huge fan of checking out the health aisles at places like Dollar General and even Dollar Tree, and it's truly a goldmine for budget-friendly essentials. Let's talk about generics versus brand names, because that's often where the confusion lies. When you see medication like 'All-Day Allergy Relief' at Dollar General, which contains cetirizine HCl 10mg, it's essentially the same active ingredient as Zyrtec. The FDA requires generic medications to have the exact same active ingredient, strength, dosage form, and route of administration as their brand-name counterparts. This means you're getting the same therapeutic effect without paying for the brand marketing. It's a game-changer, especially for daily allergy sufferers. I used to spend a fortune on Zyrtec, but now I grab the Dollar General version and my allergies are just as under control! Another fantastic find I wanted to highlight is the 'Pain Relief PM.' This one contains acetaminophen 500mg and diphenhydramine HCl 25mg. Does that sound familiar? It should, because it's the same combination found in Tylenol PM! It's perfect for those nights when aches and pains are keeping you awake. Just remember that diphenhydramine can cause drowsiness, so it’s definitely one for bedtime. Always follow the dosage instructions on the box. And who doesn't need ibuprofen? The Dollar General version, with ibuprofen 200mg, is identical to Advil. Whether it's for headaches, muscle aches, or period cramps, having a reliable pain reliever on hand is a must. And when you can get it for a dollar, why wouldn't you? Beyond these specific medications, I've noticed Dollar General often carries a wide range of other common over-the-counter remedies. I've seen everything from cold and flu meds to digestive aids, and even basic first-aid supplies. While you might not find specialty items like certain cough syrups (e.g., Delsym) or supplements (e.g., Lysine) *everywhere*, it's always worth a quick look because you never know what gems you'll discover. Just be mindful that each store's stock can vary, and it's always good practice to check for variety if you're looking for something specific like laxative pills at Dollar Tree, for instance. My biggest tips for shopping for meds at dollar stores are: Always check the active ingredients: Make sure they match what you're looking for. Read the dosage instructions carefully: Don't assume it's exactly the same as a brand-name you're used to, even if the active ingredients are. Check expiration dates: This is crucial for any medication, but especially at discount stores. Know your needs: If you have specific medical conditions or are taking other medications, always consult with your doctor or a pharmacist before trying new over-the-counter drugs, even generics. Saving money on everyday essentials like medication is such a big win, and places like Dollar General make it so accessible. It means more money for fun stuff, right? Happy saving, everyone!

Awesome! I always buy the generic version of allergy medicine, pain meds, etc. The big brands are so expensive and generic work just like the brand.
