I’ve tried so many!

I feel like I have tried a million kinds! As I get older (I’m 37) I feel like they settle into my fine lines and look dry.
I just purchased this Tarte Shape Tape Blur because people on TikTok were raving about it. I’ve only tried it once and I think I like it - but I’ve yet to try it with a full face of makeup!
What’s your favorite? Bonus if it truly covers, is hydrating, and doesn’t look cakey!
Finding that perfect concealer truly feels like a quest, especially as we get a little older! Like many of you, I've had my fair share of disappointments with products that promise the world but end up highlighting every tiny line under my eyes. It's frustrating when you spend time on your makeup, only for your concealer to look dry and creased within an hour. So, why do concealers crease and settle into fine lines, particularly as we age? It's often a combination of factors. Our under-eye area is one of the most delicate parts of our face, and it's constantly moving with expressions. As we mature, our skin naturally produces less collagen and elastin, leading to a loss of plumpness and increased dryness. Many concealers, while offering great coverage, can be formulated to be quite thick or matte, which might work for younger, oilier skin, but for us, they just cling to those dry patches and fine lines, making them more noticeable. The goal isn't to erase every line, but to brighten and even out without looking heavy or caked on. When I'm hunting for a new concealer, I've learned to be a label detective! I always look for hydrating heroes like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, squalane, or even nourishing plant oils like jojoba or argan. These ingredients act like a drink of water for your skin, helping the product glide on smoothly and stay flexible throughout the day. Avoid anything that screams 'matte' or 'full coverage' without also promising hydration, as these can often be the culprits for dryness and settling prematurely. A good hydrating formula will make a world of difference. Beyond finding the right product, how you apply it makes a HUGE difference. I've found that less is definitely more under the eyes. Instead of swiping directly, try dabbing a tiny amount onto the back of your hand to warm it up, then use your ring finger for warmth and a natural blend, or a damp beauty sponge. I usually apply a light layer, let it sit for a minute, then gently tap it in. And don't forget your eye cream! A well-moisturized under-eye area is the best canvas. Give your eye cream a few minutes to fully absorb before applying any makeup. If my skin feels extra dry, I might even dab on a tiny bit of facial oil around my eyes to create a smooth, plump base that helps the concealer melt into the skin rather than sitting on top. Speaking of application, the type of concealer can also play a role. While liquid concealers are often praised for hydration, I’ve found some blurring makeup sticks can also work wonders! It really depends on the formula. If you're trying a stick concealer, remember it might be thicker, so warm it up on the back of your hand first, then apply just a tiny bit and blend it out. These can be great for targeted coverage and a smooth finish if they're formulated with emollients. For setting, I use a tiny amount of translucent, finely milled powder just on the areas prone to creasing, applied with a fluffy brush, or even a puff pressed gently. The key is a light hand and only where truly needed. And for those days when I need extra staying power without creasing, I've found a light mist of setting spray can work wonders. Just a quick spritz over your finished makeup can help everything meld together beautifully and keep that hydrating concealer looking fresh all day. What are your go-to application hacks?

I'm 50, and my favorite concealer is by It Cosmetics.
