Cajun Steak Bites over Creamy Garlic Cheese Shells

Ingredients:

1 lb steak, sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized pieces

2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 lb pasta shells

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

¼ cup grated cheddar cheese

½ cup chicken broth

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Directions:

Cook the pasta shells according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Season the steak pieces with the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak in a single layer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked to your preference. Transfer the steak to a plate.

Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet. Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute.

Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until slightly thickened.

Lower the heat and add the Parmesan, mozzarella, and cheddar. Stir until the cheeses have melted, then mix in the smoked paprika. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper as needed.

Add the drained shells to the skillet and gently fold them through the garlic cheese sauce. Warm for 1 to 2 minutes.

Spoon the creamy shells onto plates and arrange the Cajun steak bites over the top or alongside. Garnish with chopped parsley.

... Read moreThis Cajun Steak Bites over Creamy Garlic Cheese Shells dish is a fantastic way to combine bold, spicy flavors with comforting, creamy textures for a truly satisfying meal. From my experience, using ribeye steak adds a bit more juiciness and tenderness, but sirloin is a great, leaner option that still delivers excellent flavor. A key tip I found helpful is to make sure the steak pieces are cut evenly into bite-sized portions so they cook uniformly and get that perfect sear. The Cajun seasoning can be adjusted to your preferred heat level — you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like extra spice. For the creamy cheese sauce, the blend of Parmesan, mozzarella, and cheddar gives a delightful balance of sharpness and melty texture that clings perfectly to the pasta shells. When making the sauce, cooking the garlic briefly before adding the cream and chicken broth really enhances the flavor without overpowering the dish. The smoked paprika adds a subtle smoky depth, elevating the sauce beyond just cheesy richness. I highly recommend letting the cooked pasta shells rest for a minute or two after draining before folding them into the sauce; this step helps the shells better absorb the creamy garlic cheese mixture. Garnishing with fresh chopped parsley not only adds a splash of color but also a hint of freshness that cuts through the richness. Serving this meal is super versatile — arrange the Cajun steak bites over the pasta or serve them on the side as the recipe suggests. This recipe makes about 5 servings, perfect for a family dinner or leftovers the next day. If you want to make it a bit lighter, you can swap out heavy cream for half-and-half or a blend of milk and cream, but keep in mind that it will change the texture slightly. Also, for a gluten-free version, consider using gluten-free pasta shells. Overall, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser that hits all the right notes — spicy, savory, creamy, and comforting. Give it a try next time you want an easy, gourmet-style dinner with the comforting feel of garlic cheese pasta and the bold kick of Cajun steak bites.
