The walk
It's funny how we talk about 'working out a deal,' right? Usually, it's about business or negotiations. But for me, as someone passionate about fitness and living an active life, 'working out a deal' has taken on a whole new meaning: it's about the personal pact I make with myself to stay consistent with my workouts, especially my beloved walks! It’s not always easy to prioritize fitness amidst a busy schedule, but I’ve found that framing it as a non-negotiable 'deal' helps immensely. It shifts from being a chore to being an essential part of my day, something I committed to. For us redheads, there are a few extra considerations, especially when it comes to outdoor activities like walking in sunny Los Angeles. My 'deal' definitely includes a strong SPF, a wide-brimmed hat, and sometimes planning my walks for earlier mornings or later evenings to avoid the harshest sun. But embracing my redhead identity means I don't let a little sun stop me from enjoying the incredible outdoor spaces LA has to offer. In fact, there's something empowering about stepping out, soaking in the views (safely!), and feeling those miles add up. It’s about celebrating what our bodies can do and finding joy in movement, all while staying true to who we are. Los Angeles is truly a walker's paradise, and it plays a huge part in helping me 'work out my deal.' From the scenic paths along the coast to the bustling streets of Hollywood, there’s always a new route to explore. The vibrant fitness culture here is incredibly motivating. Seeing so many people out and about, whether they're hiking Runyon Canyon or strolling through Griffith Park, really fuels my own commitment. It’s like we’re all in on this unspoken 'deal' together – a shared understanding that moving our bodies makes us feel good, both physically and mentally. I often use my walks as a time for creative thinking, which is perfect for my content creation work. Balancing a content creator's life with a consistent fitness routine can be tricky, but it's part of the 'deal' I've made with myself. My walks aren't just exercise; they're my mental health breaks, my inspiration boosters, and often, the perfect backdrop for new content ideas. I might be brainstorming my next video, planning an Instagram post, or simply enjoying a podcast. It's about multitasking smartly and making sure that self-care, in the form of physical activity, doesn't get pushed aside. It’s a testament to how flexible and beneficial a simple walk can be when you’ve made that internal commitment. So, how can you 'work out a deal' with yourself for fitness? Start small! Maybe it's a 20-minute walk every day, or committing to three strength sessions a week. Write it down, tell a friend, or even schedule it in your calendar like an important meeting. Find an activity you genuinely enjoy – for me, it's walking! — so it doesn't feel like a chore. Celebrate your small victories, and don't beat yourself up if you miss a day. Just get back to your 'deal' the next day. Remember, it's a personal pact for a healthier, happier you. What kind of fitness 'deal' are you going to make this week?
