roaming around newtown

Newtown

... Read moreExploring Newtown is always an adventure filled with unique spots and flavors, and Maeda Newtown stood out as a perfect breakfast destination. What started as a quick stop turned into a relaxing morning thanks to the cozy ambiance and friendly atmosphere that immediately made me want to stay longer. One of the highlights was the tori shoyu ramen — a delicate chicken broth infused with shoyu tare and garlic oil, complemented by roof-roasted tomato, leek, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The koji-poached chicken added a luxurious touch, making each bite memorable. I also appreciated how the menu caters to various tastes, including options like a kids' meal and delicious plates featuring miso and pickled items. What really surprised me was the simple iced chocolate drink, which had subtle yuzu and coriander notes. It wasn’t just a typical sweet chocolate beverage; the fresh and smooth taste made it a refreshing choice, especially for a morning pick-me-up. Aside from the delicious food and drinks, the space itself had good vibes with open, airy seating that invited lingering conversations or a peaceful solo breakfast. It’s settled in Newtown, which is known for its eclectic mix of culture, street art, and indie vibes — all elements that add to the charm of visiting this part of Sydney. When roaming around Sydney, especially Newtown, Maeda Newtown is a must-visit café if you want to enjoy a thoughtful meal that balances traditional Japanese flavors with contemporary twists. Whether you’re looking to try delicately crafted ramen or just want a relaxing breakfast spot with great coffee and sweets, this hidden gem will exceed expectations.
