Tackling my physical TBR: Empire of Storms 🌊
Hi book friends! I hope you’re all doing well today.
On today’s episode of tackling my physical to-be-read, we are talking about Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Mass!
This is *technically* the fifth book in the ‘Throne of Glass’ series, but may be different for the TOG tandem readers!
🚨These reviews may contain spoilers for the series! 🚨
In this book, we follow Aelin Galathynius, as she navigates a battlefield full of twists and turns to solidly allegiances while war slowly creeps up on everyone that she loves.
I gave this book four out of five stars, because wow! This was an amazing and thrilling addition to the series, which worked cohesively with reading Tower of Dawn at the same time, and with the way we ending things off here…
Have you guys read this one, and if so, what did you think? Please let me know your thoughts down below! 👇🏻
Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! 📚

Hey bookworms! Since we're diving deep into *Empire of Storms*, I wanted to share a few more thoughts beyond my initial review, especially for those curious about all the details. First off, can we talk about the Empire of Storms book cover? Sarah J. Maas truly knows how to set the mood! That stunning front cover with the ship on stormy dark blue waves under a purple sky perfectly captures the epic, tumultuous journey Aelin embarks on. It’s got that signature Sarah J. Maas books aesthetic, hinting at both danger and magic. And flipping to the back cover, seeing the synopsis and author photo, just builds the anticipation. It always makes me eager to dive into the next chapter of the Throne of Glass series. Plus, the dedication inside, "For Tamar, my champion, fairy godmother, and knight in shining armor," really sets a heartfelt tone before you even begin the adventure. For those wondering about the tandem read, Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn are famously read together by many Throne of Glass fans. It's a unique experience where you alternate chapters between these two books. While my initial read was separate, I can totally see why readers do it! It provides a continuous timeline for Aelin's story while also experiencing Chaol's journey in the Southern Continent. It truly enriches the overall narrative and makes the series feel even more interconnected, especially as war looms. If you're a first-time reader, looking into a tandem read guide might be a game-changer! And oh, the characters! Aelin, of course, shines, but this book really gives space to others. We see so much growth and development across the court. For fans asking about 'Throne of Glass Rook' or 'Throne of Glass Galan,' characters like Lorcan (whose actions can be 'rook-like' in strategy) and Gavriel (a 'galan' figure, meaning a brave or chivalrous man) play significant roles in the unfolding war and Aelin's alliances. Their personal struggles and loyalties add so much depth. And who could forget the powerful quotes? Sarah J. Maas is a master of them. Phrases like "You do not yield" are not just words; they’re a mantra for Aelin and resonate deeply throughout her entire journey. Similarly, the idea of "the mountain is you best quotes" often comes to mind when thinking about personal strength and overcoming internal battles, a theme constantly present in this series. Finally, regarding 'how long is Empire of Storms'? It's a substantial book, a true tome that requires commitment! But honestly, the pacing is so fantastic, and the stakes are so high that the pages just fly by. You'll be so engrossed in Aelin's fight for her kingdom, forging allegiances, and facing incredible challenges, that you won't even notice the length. It’s an immersive experience from start to finish, weaving together action, romance, and political intrigue seamlessly. If you're a SJM fan, this one's an absolute must-read that delivers on all fronts, leading to a truly epic ending.

Still in the process of reading this one but oh my goodness!! Aelin is that girrrll! A mastermind! lol
