Hi book friends! I hope you’re all doing well today.
On today’s episode of tackling my physical TBR, we are talking about The Game Changer by Lana Ferguson! 🏒
This is the third romance novel by Lana Ferguson, and the first of her two new romance releases coming out in ‘24!
In this book, we follow our main character Delilah who runs a popular baking show on social media, and after the return of her brother’s best friend, Ian, they end up falling into a fake yet suspiciously real relationship for his PR.
I gave this book four out of five stars, and I really enjoyed this one! I actually ended up reading this book in one sitting, because I was just loving every second of this! 🤩
Have you guys read this one? And if so, what did you think? As always, let me know your thoughts down below!
... Read moreHey bookworms! Since I raved about Lana Ferguson's 'The Game Changer' recently, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why this book became an instant favorite and why it deserves a spot on your reading list, especially if you're looking to tackle your TBR pile.
First off, let's talk about the magic behind the story. We meet Delilah, a vibrant social media baking show host whose life gets deliciously complicated when Ian, her brother's best friend and a hotshot hockey player, re-enters her world. The premise of a fake relationship for PR is a classic for a reason, but Lana Ferguson elevates it with incredible chemistry and genuine emotion. What starts as a convenient arrangement quickly blossoms into something real and undeniably swoon-worthy. I absolutely adored watching Delilah navigate her public persona while secretly falling for Ian. Their banter was top-tier, and the way their connection deepened felt incredibly authentic. This kind of plot makes you keep turning pages, desperate to see how their fake romance unfolds into true love.
Now, about the author herself, Lana Ferguson has a real knack for crafting engaging contemporary romances. This book truly showcases her ability to create characters you root for and situations that pull you in. If you're wondering about other works or what her style is like, 'The Game Changer' is a fantastic introduction to her witty, heartfelt, and utterly addictive storytelling. Her writing just flows, making it so easy to get lost in the pages – trust me, I literally read this one in a single sitting! It's a testament to her skill that she can conjure such a compelling narrative.
And for those who are visually curious, the book itself is a treat! The front cover design for 'The Game Changer' is captivating, perfectly hinting at the spicy romance within with its illustration of the hockey player and the embracing couple, and you can even spot 'TBR' overlaid, perhaps as a nod to conquering your reading lists. It’s definitely one that stands out on a bookshelf. I even loved little details inside, like the dedication page that humorously acknowledges the book's intense grip: "To me, actually, for not letting this book make me its little bitch. It sure as hell tried." It just adds to the charm! Flipping through, you'll find passages that resonate, whether it's Delilah's baking struggles or Ian's hockey world. I saw mentions of "Ava" and "Taylor Swift" in some parts, which just adds to the modern, relatable feel. Even page 311, with dialogue between "Jack" and "Dee" and a "Ratatouille" reference, shows how rich the character interactions are.
A quick note for anyone searching: while some might look for "Game Changer Book 7," rest assured that Lana Ferguson's 'The Game Changer' is a standalone novel. It's not part of a larger numbered series, so you can jump right into this captivating story without needing to catch up on previous installments. It’s a complete, satisfying romance all on its own.
This book is a perfect pick-me-up and exactly what I needed to break me out of a reading slump. If you're into fake dating, brother's best friend tropes, or just a really good romance with depth and humor, give 'The Game Changer' a try. You won't regret adding this gem to your collection!
