DIY Flooring…So proud of myself 🫶

This might seem silly to some people, but I’m so proud of myself for installing my flooring, transition pieces and fixing a few broken vinyl planks.

My vinyl flooring has been missing transition pieces for two years now. My one friend helped me install the vinyl a long time ago but never finished adding the transition pieces. So I took it upon myself and ordered peel and stick transition off of Amazon and I’m so happy with outcome.

... Read moreHey everyone! Seeing my own DIY success with those peel and stick vinyl transitions made me think about the whole process of installing peel and stick vinyl plank flooring from scratch. If you're considering a budget-friendly home renovation, this could definitely be your next project! I've seen friends go from bare subfloor to beautiful 'gray wood-look vinyl flooring' in a weekend, and it's truly empowering. First things first, prep is absolutely key! Make sure your subfloor is clean, dry, and perfectly level. Any bumps or debris will show through your new flooring over time. Then, take a moment to plan your layout. Starting from the center of the room often helps keep things symmetrical and minimizes awkward cuts at the edges. For cutting the vinyl planks, a simple utility knife and a straight edge are usually all you need – it's surprisingly easy to score and snap them to size, making you feel like a true 'Handy Girl' (or guy!). When it comes to actually laying the planks, remember to carefully peel off the adhesive backing and align them perfectly before pressing down firmly. Mistakes happen, but with peel and stick, you often have a bit of wiggle room to reposition if you act fast. Just be mindful that overlapping edges can lead to lifted planks later, so take your time for a professional finish. This type of flooring is a fantastic option for high-traffic areas or spaces where you want the look of wood without the high cost and maintenance. And just like I did with my 'peel and stick transition' pieces, don't forget the finishing touches! Baseboards and quarter-round trim can hide any slight imperfections along the walls and give your new floor a truly polished look. For those worried about product quality for a larger renovation, while I didn't personally delve deep into 'floor score' certifications for my small project, it's a good benchmark to look for when researching materials. It's amazing what you can achieve with a little research and elbow grease – and maybe a few affordable finds from Amazon!
