How to be Safe
A recent news report about a plane crashing into a building served as a sobering reminder of how unpredictable life can be. Such tragic events reinforce the realization that true security is found only within God's will and presence. While these occurrences are deeply unfortunate, they encourage me to consistently lean on the Lord for safety and protection.
Continuing with the theme of flight, my morning devotion shared a beautiful image of God hovering over His people like a bird, ready to defend and deliver them. It reminded me that our ultimate refuge comes from being positioned under the shadow of the Almighty's wings. Safety from eternal consequences of your sins, is to be found under the merciful wings of Jesus Christ.
The question "Do you feel safe?" is one that resonates deeply, especially when faced with unpredictable events like plane crashes or other tragedies. From personal experience, I’ve found that true safety often transcends physical measures. While we can take precautions in daily life, such as securing homes or following safety protocols, the peace that sustains us during hardship often comes from spiritual assurance. Drawing from devotional practices, I’ve come to appreciate the comforting image of God as a protective bird, hovering over and sheltering His people. This metaphor powerfully illustrates how, despite external dangers and uncertainties, there is a refuge that offers enduring safety. Personally, acknowledging that I am "under the shadow of the Almighty’s wings" has provided a sense of calm and confidence that practical measures alone cannot offer. This spiritual safety does not imply ignoring real-world responsibilities, but rather enhancing our resilience and hope amidst challenges. It reminds me that while we cannot control every aspect of life, we can find peace in a presence greater than ourselves, one that offers deliverance and mercy. Furthermore, connecting with a community of faith fosters a supportive environment, creating safe spaces where love and encouragement flourish. This shared spiritual journey can significantly impact how we perceive safety—not just as physical security but as holistic well-being encompassing emotional and eternal dimensions. In summary, blending practical safety awareness with spiritual trust enriches our experience of security. It motivates me daily to lean on this higher power, trusting that whatever uncertainties arise, I am cared for deeply. Embracing this perspective has transformed how I respond to fear, enabling me to live with courage and hope.
