Weight Loss Rules I Need to Follow
These are weight loss rules I need to stick to and follow!
It's easy for me to jump back into binge eating or eating an obscene amount of food. This is especially true during different parts of my cycle, which can only intensify my cravings and hunger.
To keep myself in check, I made this little guide to keep on track! I've lost some weight, and have been successful and being consistent, but then I'll go back to being lazy, consistent- it's a cycle. So I wanted to create some more relaxed rules for myself to follow to be able to lose some more pounds before my vacation in March.
It's so easy to fall off track when you're trying to lose weight, especially when life gets busy or those pesky cravings hit (hello, cycle week!). I totally get it because I've been there, bouncing between being consistent and then, well, not so consistent. But through trial and error, I've found that having a set of personalized, yet flexible, weight loss rules makes all the difference. These aren't about strict deprivation, but more about creating sustainable habits that gently guide you towards your goals. Let's dive deeper into some of the food rules I swear by. First, intermittent fasting has been a game-changer for me. I usually aim for a 14-16 hour fast, which helps me reduce my eating window and naturally consume fewer calories. It’s not about starving, but more about giving my digestive system a rest. Another key principle is eating slower. Seriously, it sounds simple, but savoring each bite helps you recognize fullness cues much better. I try to put my fork down between bites and really taste my food. This also helps with portion control without feeling deprived. And for those unavoidable hunger pangs between meals? Healthier snacks are my secret weapon. Think Greek yogurt with berries, a handful of almonds, or pre-cut veggies with hummus. Preparing these in advance means I'm not reaching for chips when hunger strikes. And, of course, the golden rule: drinking enough water. I aim for at least 8 glasses a day. Sometimes, what feels like hunger is actually just thirst! Now, let's talk about those specific challenges, like period cravings. Oh, how real they are! Instead of fighting them head-on, I’ve learned to manage them. For me, it's not just about drinking teas (though herbal teas are soothing!). I also focus on increasing protein and healthy fats during this time, which helps stabilize blood sugar. Sometimes, I allow myself a small, pre-portioned treat – a square of dark chocolate, for instance – to satisfy the craving without going overboard. This is where my 'Taco Bell Hungry Principles' come in handy – it's about having a plan for those intense cravings! Instead of giving in completely, I apply a 'pause and plan' approach. Can I make a healthier version at home? Or can I choose the smallest portion size and truly savor it? It's about being mindful even in those challenging moments. My exercise rules are equally flexible but consistent. I make sure to establish a minimum workout frequency, aiming for at least 3-4 days a week. The duration doesn't always have to be an hour; even 20-30 minutes of intentional movement counts! I mix it up with different types of activities – a blend of strength training, brisk walking, and some fun dance workouts. The OCR also mentioned period-specific exercise modifications, which are crucial. When cramps hit, intense cardio is usually out. That's when I turn to gentle activities like Pilates for cramps or a restorative yoga session. I avoid heavy stomach workouts during this time and instead focus on light stretching and listening to my body. It’s about adapting, not stopping. Ultimately, these rules for weight loss are about creating a framework that supports you, not restricts you. It's about building a consistent routine that you can actually stick to, even when life throws curveballs. Remember, consistency beats perfection every single time. You've got this!
