how to combat gym anxiety 🫶🏽

gym anxiety is such a common thing that most if not all of us go through. i used to be extremely anxious when it came to working out so these are some tips i swear by to help overcome gym anxiety.

🎧 - cardio warmup. this allows you to look around and understand where everything is. usually the cardio section gives you an overlook of the gym so you can become familiar with what is where.

🎧 - plan ahead. when you plan your workout ahead you have a map to guide you through your workout. you’ll be able to stay focused on your goals which will help with that overwhelming feeling.

🎧 - pick a fire playlist. having music that motivates you will move you through your workout. listening to my favorite songs motivates me & calms down my nerves. remember we all were beginners once :)

🎧 - look up proper form videos. don’t feel embarrassed I still do this!

🎧 - get familiar with the equipment. thankfully most gyms have qr codes that you can scan to show you how to properly use a machine. they are extremely helpful!

now go get that workout in! you deserve to be there just as much as everyone else in that room 💌

... Read moreGym anxiety is an issue many face, especially beginners, but there are ways to tackle it effectively. One key strategy is to plan your workouts in advance. This can alleviate the stress of what to do next and allow you to focus on your form and technique. Additionally, a proper warm-up, like a cardio session, can help acclimate you to the gym environment, letting you observe where the equipment is located and how it operates. This familiarity can significantly reduce anxiety levels. Music also plays a vital role in enhancing your gym experience. Craft a playlist that energizes and motivates you. Not only does it help you push through tough workouts, but it can also create a familiar ambiance that calms nerves. Don't hesitate to utilize resources like instructional videos online; they can be incredibly helpful in learning the correct forms for exercises, which can build your confidence and prevent injury. Moreover, many gyms now provide QR codes on machines that link directly to instructional videos, making it easier than ever to learn how to use the equipment properly. Remember, everyone in the gym was a beginner once, and you're there to improve yourself just like everyone else. With time and practice, gym anxiety can fade, transforming your workout experience into one of empowerment and growth.
