Make something old look new

 I love a good chair makeover and this one turned out beautifully! I purchased this-for a super great price- at our local Habitat for Humanity Restore.

Can you paint fabric/upholstery? Absolutely you can! Is it durable? Yes!! Is it comfortable? Yes!! The paint doesn’t scratch or peel off, it’s soft and subtle and looks and feels like embossed leather! This particular upholstery had a pattern that once painted, is still evident.

I used a combination of paint and fabric softener to achieve this result. So not only does this chair look good, it smells pretty amazing too!

The chair was vacuumed, shampooed, shaved and the primed with softener and a dark base color. Three coats of softener and this soft, neutral putty gray color called Junket Gray by Mélange Artisan Mineral Paints were applied. The legs were sanded and I used a Walnut Restore-a-Finish by Howard Products, Inc. I used a product called Board & Boot Quenching Balm (also by Melange) on the entire chair.

I added some upholstery tacks on the arm fronts to give the chair some pizazz. What do you think? #remadebyrobin #paintedfurniture #paintedupholstry #furnituremakeover
