Helix Piercing
Got my helix pierced on my 18th birthday, exactly 5 days ago, and it’s definitely an interesting experience. It feels weird the first 2 days and after that it’s very tempting to touch it but you rlly have to refrain from doing so especially with dirty hands. It feels fine throughout the day but every time I clean it with saline spray it burns/hurts. Not sure if that’s common or normal but that’s how my process is going so far. I would get this piercing again bc i already knew what I was getting myself into and I would recommend it to anyone who’s willing to go through the long healing process and is able to avoid getting it dirty/messing with it.
⭐️Overall rating: 4/5: Kinda annoying but it’s super cute
💰Price: $60
👍Pros: Cute, don’t have to change the post out for another week
🤔Cons: Very tempting to touch, hard to sleep on left side without neck pillow, itchy after cleaning
Getting a helix piercing is a popular trend among young adults, often symbolizing self-expression and individuality. The helix area is cartilage, and its healing process can take longer than that of earlobe piercings, lasting several months. It’s essential to maintain proper hygiene; use saline solutions to clean your piercing and avoid touching it with dirty hands to prevent infections. Many new piercers experience discomfort during the first days, as the area can feel sensitive and even somewhat itchy. It’s crucial to resist the temptation to fiddle with the piercing; doing so can irritate the area further. Sleeping positions can also be an issue; using a neck pillow or pillow designed for piercings can help alleviate discomfort during the healing process. Remember to consult your piercer for specific aftercare strategies, as they can provide personalized advice depending on your individual situation. Keeping your piercing clean and protected can lead to a beautiful, healed helix that enhances your personal style!
