My 1st apartment by myself.
Just need some bar stools for my island then finish my bedroom #my own apartment #new apartment #Lemon8Diary
Moving into my first apartment was such an exciting journey, and I’ve learned so much about making a new space truly feel like home. When I started out, I wanted to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere, especially since it's an open-concept layout. Here are some of my top tips and what I considered when decorating: 1. Start with the Big Pieces (But Think Smartly!) My light-colored sectional sofa was one of my first big purchases. For a smaller space, choosing furniture with a lighter hue really helps make the room feel larger and brighter. I also opted for a round glass coffee table, which is brilliant because it doesn't visually clutter the room like a solid, bulky table might. It allows light to pass through, keeping that airy feel, complementing the dark wood-look flooring. 2. Embrace Soft Textures for Instant Coziness You'll see a soft rug under my coffee table, and I can't stress enough how much a good rug transforms a room. It adds warmth, defines the living area in an open space, and just feels amazing underfoot. Don't underestimate the power of throws and pillows too – they're perfect for layering! 3. Personalize with Art and Decor One of my favorite ways to make a space mine is through art. I’ve incorporated a mix of abstract and floral artworks, along with a minimalist line drawing. Don’t be afraid to mix styles! These pieces really tie the room together and reflect my personality. For my console table and media console, I love using scented candles and fresh flowers. These small touches, along with silver ornaments, add layers of charm and make the apartment feel lived-in and loved. The pink candle on my speckled granite kitchen island is a favorite! 4. Lighting is Key (Beyond Just Lamps!) Beyond my lamp on the mirrored console table, I rely heavily on natural light from the windows with blinds, but also on ambient lighting from candles. The soft glow of candles creates such a warm and relaxing vibe, especially in the evenings. It’s an easy way to make any space feel instantly more luxurious and welcoming. 5. Don't Forget the Kitchen Island! My kitchen island isn't just for cooking; it's a central feature in my open-concept space. I love decorating it with a vase of white branches – it adds height and a touch of nature without taking up too much counter space. It also helps subtly define the kitchen area from the living room. Now, I'm just on the hunt for the perfect bar stools to complete this spot! 6. Planning for the Bedroom (Future Goals!) My next big project is finishing my bedroom! I'm thinking about continuing the cozy theme with soft linens and maybe a few more thoughtful art pieces. It's all about creating a sanctuary where I can relax. Setting up an apartment takes time, but enjoying the process of making it your own is the best part. I hope these tips help you create your dream first apartment!
