Is Beijing 101 as good as what’s being advertised?

Abit of backstory of how I became one of the patrons. Flash back to probably last year to early February of this year as I was having my Polytechnic’s internship, I went to Watsons to do window shopping to kill time during my lunch break and at that point of time Beijing 101 was collaborating with Watsons to do a promotion package of $40-50ish which originally up to $200-$300+ per session? And as I was browsing and minding my own business, I could tell from the side of my eyes that someone was observing me and wanting to approach me to talk about how bad my hair is LOL..

So let’s skip to the day I went to visit them after purchasing and mia on them till they called me asking me to book my appointment so that I can do this treatment package. The front desk staff would always assist you inside after verifying you have an appointment on this date and at this timing and serve you hot tea, warm towel (the rolled up tissue but for you to wipe your hands and etc) and packet of mixed nuts upon seated.

They would explain the procedures of what is happening to your hair, how to fix it, why is it like that, what treatment they will be doing, what are they applying and etc throughout the entire process. And yes, you can see a significant change after just one trial session which costs $40-$50ish. Thats when they proceed in asking you to sign package, all of us are definitely gullible from hair salon to nail salon in signing package because was being pushed. But no matter how much I told them that I cant afford and only have like few dollars in my bank which I wasn’t lying at that point of time, they would resonate with it and say ‘dont worry you can slowly pay us back, we have many students that patrons us too’

Fast forward to today, the package definitely and significantly increase in pricing because ‘better things are being used’. The last package I did was only $150+/month for 6 sessions till I finish paying the ‘debt’ while my package now costs $200+/month for 6 sessions, and I still left about $300 to pay off for this current package.. So you do your calculations on whether this is a ‘good long term investment plan’.

———

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

👍Why I like it:

1. It did showed significant results after 1 trial session

2. Was assigned to a consultant who knows what she was doing

3. Cozy and comforting environment (probably because how they decorated their store)

4. Without a fail for each appointment, the front desk staff would bring hot tea, warm tissue towel and packet of nuts

5. Recently in October was my birthday, my consultant bought me a cake and asked me to consume it while I was doing the treatment, so unexpected and thankful 🥺

👎 Why I dont like it:

1. Pushy for consumers to sign package so they can get their commissions.

2. Make suspicion if I made the transaction by double confirming with the colleague that has no choice to serve me since my usual consultant wasn’t in. I straight up told that consultant that I’ve already paid via PayNow (they were having some ongoing raffle lucky draw so when we buy something new, we will PayNow over, send the transaction proof to their WhatsApp and they will write our names onto a piece of sheet. Up till now I dont even know if this shit is over and have selected their winners) and I have the transaction record if they require so. She was like ‘we are just checking, no worries, not suspecting you’. But what you are doing is that in case you don’t know..??

3. Certain days’ timings are emptier so I happened to come by once and the colleagues were busy laughing and having fun at the front desk. The assigned consultant totally forgotten about my existence.

4. They pushed my appointment timing earlier, I used to set it on every Thursdays at 3.30pm because I would end earlier then from work. But recently my appointment has been constantly without a failure at 2.00pm… I guess they just wanna rest… 🤷‍♀️

All in all, is Beijing 101 as good as what’s being advertised? I would say yes but to some extent only because it did showed results with just 1 treatment session but they were being called out by HSA for using an ingredient they weren’t supposed to. Sign the package at your risk!

... Read moreIf you're considering Beijing 101, it’s helpful to understand more about their package prices and service experience beyond what’s commonly advertised. The starting package offer at around $40 to $50 is quite attractive compared to the usual $200+ per session rate. However, be aware that pricing increases significantly for subsequent packages, sometimes requiring monthly payments over several months which can add up to a substantial amount. Many patrons, including students, find the payment plan manageable as the salon allows gradual repayments. But it’s important to budget carefully and assess if the investment is sustainable for you. The cozy and welcoming environment, along with attentive staff offering complimentary tea and snacks, create a comforting atmosphere during treatments. While the treatment showed noticeable results after just one session, some customers report feeling pressured to sign long-term packages. This sales approach might not suit everyone, so take your time to decide and avoid impulsive commitments. Also, occasional lapses in staff attentiveness have been noted on less busy days, so managing expectations about service consistency is wise. Importantly, Beijing 101 was flagged by the Health Sciences Authority for use of certain ingredients, so explore ingredient details if you have sensitive hair or scalp concerns. Checking recent reviews on locations like Funan and JCube outlets can also provide updated insights into customer experiences and current pricing. Overall, Beijing 101 can deliver genuine hair improvements but approaching the package deals cautiously and being fully informed will help you make the best decision for your hair care needs.
