I was a college athlete and over the last few years since I’ve been retired I’ve been incredibly inconsistent with working out and taking care of myself in general. The last few months have been much better but I still have my weeks / months!

I’m sharing this journey to motivate anyone ex athletes out there that don’t know when they “let themselves go” and looking to get consistent again. Let’s do it together! Redefine our passion and motivation for working out!

Reflecting on your journey regularly can reinforce motivation and highlight improvements even during slower periods. Additionally, joining communities that share similar experiences, such as groups for retired athletes or fitness enthusiasts focusing on personal growth, can offer encouragement and camaraderie. Sharing struggles and successes builds social support, which is identified by health professionals as a key factor in long-term adherence to fitness routines. Incorporating self-care habits like mindfulness, adequate rest, and stress management complements physical workouts and improves overall well-being. Remember, consistency is a gradual process, and redefining passion and motivation for exercise is possible at any stage.
