This is why the term “invisible illness” really aggravates me. I am NOT invisible. #chronicillness #overstimulatedmom #audhd
Living with chronic illness or neurodivergent conditions such as AUDHD (Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD) often comes with the frustration of being misunderstood due to the 'invisible illness' label. This term can minimize the very real struggles faced daily, creating barriers to empathy and support. Many people with chronic illnesses experience symptoms not easily seen by others, from pain and fatigue to cognitive challenges. For overstimulated moms managing both their own health and family life, these challenges can be overwhelming but often go unnoticed or unacknowledged. The reality is, these conditions are very much present and impactful, even if they do not show externally. Raising awareness of chronic illnesses and neurodivergence requires acknowledging the uniqueness and legitimacy of each person's experience. Using respectful language and advocating for better visibility can improve understanding and reduce stigma. Connecting with communities of others who share similar experiences can provide much-needed validation and support. Ultimately, recognizing that individuals with chronic illnesses and AUDHD are not invisible is essential. It encourages society to listen actively, provide accommodations, and foster inclusive environments where everyone’s health journey is respected and supported.
