Changing my mindset one day at a time.. even though I’m racing PMDD and rumination to the finish line. #neurodivergent #overstimulatedmom #grief #miscarriageawareness
Living with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) can feel incredibly overwhelming, especially when combined with persistent rumination—the tendency to obsessively think about the same distressing thoughts. As a neurodivergent individual and a mom managing overstimulation, I’ve found that daily mindset shifts are essential for maintaining emotional balance. One effective strategy I’ve embraced is mindfulness meditation, which helps me break the cycle of rumination by anchoring me in the present moment. Even dedicating just five to ten minutes a day to mindful breathing or gentle body scans can reduce anxiety and improve mood. Grief, especially related to miscarriage, adds another layer of emotional complexity. Sharing my experience within supportive communities dedicated to miscarriage awareness has been profoundly healing. It’s a reminder that acknowledging grief is not a sign of weakness but a vital step toward healing. Additionally, managing overstimulation as a mom means creating intentional quiet spaces at home and setting realistic expectations for myself. This self-care approach has been crucial in reducing burnout and fostering resilience. Changing mindset is not an overnight fix; it’s a continuous process of self-compassion and patience. Connecting with others who understand neurodivergence and the unique challenges of PMDD has also provided invaluable support. If you’re navigating similar challenges, remember you’re not alone. Small, consistent actions can lead to meaningful change over time—one day at a time.
