He's mastered the Hinokami Kagura, developed his own unique breathing techniques, and awakened his demon slayer mark. By all accounts, he's a powerhouse, constantly encountering yet another god-smacking demon from the *Twelve Kizuki*. When you think about the Demon Slayer Corps' elite, the Hashira, they're basically the strongest, most skilled sword fighters, right? They usually achieve this rank by either defeating an Upper Rank Twelve Kizuki on their own or slaying 50 demons of lower ranks, all while surviving years of grueling combat. So, with Tanjiro's incredible feats, it absolutely makes sense to question why he never formally received that coveted title. Here's my personal take on why I think Tanjiro, despite his immense power and heroism, wasn't officially named a Hashira. Firstly, let's consider the formal requirements. While Tanjiro helped defeat several Upper Ranks, he didn't technically land the final blow on an Upper Rank solo to ascend to Hashira status. Often, his victories were part of a larger team effort, involving other Hashira or even his fellow demon slayers. The Corps' ranking system is pretty strict about direct kills for promotion. Secondly, the timeline of Tanjiro's journey is incredibly condensed. He joined the Demon Slayer Corps and finished his ultimate mission against Muzan within a relatively short period, likely less than a year. The traditional path to becoming a Hashira often involved years of service and accumulating a significant number of demon kills. Tanjiro's rapid progression was unprecedented, but it might not have fit the conventional 'time served' requirement. He did achieve the Kinoe rank, which is the highest rank below a Hashira, and that's an incredible accomplishment given his short tenure. But even a Kinoe isn't a Hashira. And let's not forget the sheer physical toll his battles took. Tanjiro suffered severe, life-altering injuries throughout his journey, particularly during the final arcs. These injuries might have also played a role, or perhaps, by the very end, the system itself was changing. Ultimately, the biggest reason, in my opinion, is the fate of the Demon Slayer Corps itself. After Muzan's defeat, the Corps disbanded. There was no longer a need for Hashira because there were no more demons to slay. Tanjiro's purpose was fulfilled; he achieved what no one else could – bringing down the demon king and ending the era of demons. His role transcended a formal title; he became the hero, the one who brought peace to the world. He might not have held the title, but his impact and legacy were undeniably Hashira-level, if not even greater. What do you guys think?
