When my cast was taken off, I was surprised at the stiffness and weakness in my ankle from immobilization. It's important to start slow with physical therapy exercises prescribed by your doctor or physiotherapist to regain strength and mobility without causing further pain or injury. Pain during recovery is expected but manageable. Using pain relief methods such as prescribed medications, icing, and rest can help. Also, wearing supportive boots or braces as recommended can protect the ankle especially during the early stages post-cast removal.
