It marks not only a physical milestone but also a major step in a baby's independence and curiosity about the world. As my little one started showing signs of getting ready to crawl, I noticed increased attempts to push up on hands and knees, wiggling, and lots of determination to move forward even if just a little. It’s amazing to observe how much effort babies put into this early mobility—even if it looks a bit chaotic! Encouraging your baby during this stage by creating a safe space is key. I cleared an area with soft mats and toys placed just out of reach to inspire crawling attempts. This motivated my baby to improve coordination and muscle strength. Besides physical readiness, I learned it’s important to be patient and celebrate small progress; crawling can come in many forms, such as scooting or army crawling. Each baby moves at their own pace, so enjoy these precious moments without rushing them. If you’re anticipating your baby starting to crawl, consider these tips: give plenty of tummy time to strengthen neck and arm muscles; place toys you want your baby to explore a bit beyond reach; ensure a safe floor area free of hazards; and most importantly, stay close for encouragement and safety. This transitional phase truly brings mixed feelings—excitement, a little nervousness about them moving so fast, and joy in witnessing their growth. Cherish these early adventures as your baby gains newfound freedom and confidence exploring their environment for the first time.
