My Thoughts on Flowers in the Attic🌸🌼
This story isn’t new to me AT ALL. I grew up watching the movies with my mom. However this book answered so many questions that I had or didn’t know I should’ve had😭 very heavy read… I finished the book and stared at a wall. I haven’t been able to read/process anything since 🌸🌼

Reading "Flowers in the Attic" truly felt like peeling back the layers of a dark family secret I had only glimpsed through the movie adaptations. The book offers a much deeper exploration of the characters' psychological struggles and the gothic horror elements that define the story. One thing that struck me profoundly was the way the author built tension—not just from external circumstances but from the complex, often tormenting internal emotions the characters endure. What’s fascinating is how this novel isn’t just about the horror elements but also about the twisted family dynamics and the destructive nature of secrets. It challenged me to think about resilience and trauma in a way I hadn’t before. After finishing it, I found myself reflecting for a long time on the impact those confined spaces and hidden truths must have on someone growing up. For readers who grew up watching the films, the book fills in many gaps, answering questions that lingered and revealing the depth of the story's darkness and emotional weight. The writing style made me pause frequently, allowing me to absorb the gravity of each chapter before moving on. If you're into gothic horror with a strong psychological twist, this novel is a must-read. It also has a unique way of making you uncomfortable, not just from the plot but from the raw honesty of its characters’ experiences. I even found myself connecting some of the book’s moods to the cryptic OCR text referencing "V. Sutton's 77 Chauncy…" which reminded me of the mysterious, almost eerie settings typical in gothic tales. Overall, "Flowers in the Attic" isn’t just a story; it’s an emotional journey that sticks with you, offering a raw and unfiltered look at a family’s dark secrets through a gothic lens. If you want a book that will make you think and feel deeply, this one is definitely worth your time.
