Many of us focus on diet when it comes to hormone health, but it's crucial to consider other environmental factors that may impact our endocrine system. Everyday products like cleaning agents, personal care items, and household chemicals often contain toxins that can disrupt hormone balance, especially estrogen levels. The liver plays a vital role in metabolizing and clearing these toxins, but excessive exposure can overwhelm its capacity, contributing to estrogen dominance and related symptoms commonly experienced during perimenopause. From my personal experience, switching to natural and fragrance-free products made a noticeable improvement in my well-being. I also started paying attention to indoor air quality by ventilating my home regularly and incorporating air-purifying plants. These changes helped reduce my body's toxic burden and supported my liver health. Avoiding alcohol is often emphasized for liver protection, but it's important to remember that alcohol is not the only toxin damaging this vital organ. Environmental pollutants, pesticides on non-organic foods, and synthetic additives found in everyday products also contribute significantly. Healing begins with awareness—not fear. By educating yourself about the sources of hormone-disrupting toxins and making mindful choices, you can support your body's natural balance. Simple lifestyle tweaks like choosing organic produce, using clean skincare products, staying hydrated, and supporting liver function through nutrition can make a meaningful difference in managing estrogen dominance and promoting overall women's wellness.
