My journey to truly shaping my future through habits has been full of small victories and, yes, some frustrating setbacks too! One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is about dealing with those inevitable challenges. Life gets busy, motivation wanes, and suddenly that daily meditation or morning run feels impossible. What really helped me was realizing that progress isn't linear. Instead of beating myself up for missing a day, I adopted a 'never miss twice' rule. If I skipped my morning walk today, I'd make absolutely sure I did it tomorrow. This simple mindset shift prevented a single slip-up from derailing my entire routine. It's about forgiving yourself and getting back on track immediately, rather than letting one missed day turn into a week. Another game-changer for me was habit stacking and environment design. For instance, I wanted to read more. Instead of just "reading more," I decided to stack it: 'After I finish my morning coffee, I will read one chapter of my book.' Coffee is already a habit, so adding reading right after made it feel natural. For environment design, I started leaving my book on my bedside table, open to the page I left off. No more searching, no more excuses. I even applied this to healthier eating: pre-chopping veggies on Sunday meant quick, healthy dinners during the week. It’s amazing how much easier it is to make good choices when they're the path of least resistance. The idea that 'planning your future requires thought, passion, and creativity' really resonated with me, especially when it comes to visualising my habits.
