... Read moreJanuary is often seen as the time to start fresh and set ambitious goals, but it can also be a period full of pressure and self-criticism. What I’ve learned over time is that it’s okay not to have everything sorted out perfectly at the start of the year. Instead of stressing about perfection, January can be your month to reflect honestly on what didn’t go well last year and allow yourself some grace. Personally, I like to think of January as a chill zone—a time to pause and regroup rather than to push myself hard. This mindset has made a huge difference. By accepting that it’s perfectly normal to have setbacks or "fuck ups," you free yourself from the heavy burden of perfectionism. This doesn’t mean abandoning goals but rather approaching them with kindness toward yourself. Pressuring yourself to end the past year perfectly or start the new one flawlessly often leads to burnout and disappointment. Instead, try to focus on small, manageable steps that feel sustainable. It’s important to recognize that being a person, with flaws and imperfections, is not only okay but expected. So, if you feel overwhelmed at the start of the year, remember that January is your space to chill and reset. Take the time to set intentions without harsh self-judgment, and allow your journey to unfold naturally throughout the year. This approach not only improves mental well-being but also creates a more realistic path toward growth and happiness.
