ค่าเสียโอกาสการใช้รถ คือเงินชดเชยที่เจ้าของรถได้รับเมื่อต้องเสียโอกาสในการใช้รถยนต์ช่วงเวลาที่รถถูกนำไปซ่อมเนื่องจากอุบัติเหตุ ซึ่งสิทธินี้จะเรียกร้องได้เฉพาะกรณีที่เราเป็นฝ่ายถูกตามคำตอบของประกันคู่กรณีเท่านั้น โดยจำนวนวันที่สามารถเบิกได้จะนับตามวันที่รถจอดอยู่ที่อู่ซ่อมและไม่สามารถใช้งานได้จริง สำหรับรถยนต์ส่วนบุคคลไม่เกิน 7 ที่นั่ง จะได้รับการชดเชยไม่น้อยกว่าวันละ 500 บาท ส่วนรถยนต์รับจ้างสาธารณะไม่เกิน 7 ที่นั่ง จะได้รับไม่น้อยกว่าวันละ 700 บาท และรถยนต์ที่มีขนาดเกิน 7 ที่นั่งขึ้นไปจะได้รับไม่น้อยกว่าวันละ 1,000 บาท ซึ่งจำนวนวันและอัตราการชดเชยเหล่านี้อาจมีการเจรจาต่อรองกับบริษัทประกันเพื่อให้เกิดความเหมาะสม ในส่วนของเอกสารที่ต้องเตรียมเพื่อเรียกร้องค่าเสียโอกาส ได้แก่ สำเนาบัตรประชาชน สำเนาหน้าบุ๊คแบงก์ ใบรับรถเข้า-ออกอู่ซ่อมที่ขอจากอู่ซ่อม สำเนาใบเคลมประกัน และเล่มทะเบียนรถ ทั้งนี้การเจรจารับค่าเสียโอกาสต้องดำเนินการอย่างรอบคอบเพื่อให้ได้รับค่าชดเชยที่เหมาะสมและถูกต้องตามสิทธิ์ การเข้าใจถึงค่าเสียโอกาสและวิธีการเรียกร้องจะช่วยให้ผู้เสียหายไม่เสียผลประโยชน์จากอุบัติเหตุ อีกทั้งยังลดภาระค่าใช้จ่ายส่วนตัวในช่วงที่รถไม่สามารถใช้งานได้ โดยสรุปการเคลมค่าเสียโอกาสเป็นเรื่องสำคัญที่ผู้ใช้รถควรรู้และไม่ควรมองข้ามเมื่อเกิดอุบัติเหตุ เพื่อให้ได้รับความคุ้มครองและชดเชยที่เหมาะสมตามกฎหมายและมาตรฐานประกันภัย
