My breastfeeding journey gone wrong

As a first time mom all I wanted to do was be able to breastfeed my baby. After she was born we had so many problems latching. I was devastated and cried for 2 weeks straight after trying lactation specialists and everything in the book.

I finally decided to commit to pumping and I’m so proud of myself for being able to continue to provide breast milk for her for a whole year. The journey was hard but toe it was worth it! #pumpingmom #lemon8partner

... Read moreMany new mothers face significant challenges when it comes to breastfeeding, especially issues with latching that can cause frustration and emotional distress. This journey is deeply personal and often filled with trial and error before finding a manageable solution. For those who experience obstacles, pumping breast milk can be an empowering alternative that still allows moms to provide essential nutrients and bond with their babies. Using a breast pump requires dedication and patience. It can sometimes feel more time-consuming and demanding than direct breastfeeding since it involves scheduled pumping sessions, equipment cleaning, and storing milk safely. However, many mothers find that committing to pumping offers a sense of control and accomplishment when traditional breastfeeding doesn't go as planned. Support systems play a vital role during these difficult times. Connecting with lactation consultants, joining support communities like #pumpingmom, and sharing experiences can help reduce feelings of isolation. Remember, feeding your baby—whether by breastfeeding, pumping, or formula—is what's most important for their growth and your well-being. It's crucial for mothers to be kind to themselves and recognize that each journey is unique. Challenges like latching difficulties do not reflect your ability as a parent. Instead, they highlight the need to adapt and find what works best for you and your baby. Celebrating milestones, such as providing breast milk for a full year through pumping, can be a powerful affirmation of your dedication and love. For moms struggling with breastfeeding, know that you're not alone, and alternative routes like pumping provide a valuable pathway to nourishing your baby. Embrace the journey, seek support, and celebrate every success along the way.

My son was injured and couldn’t breastfeed and by the time he would have possibly been able to he was out of the reflex window and would bite the shit out of me and still not transfer milk. I’ve never been so sad in my life. Most people don’t share this so I felt so alone. I pumped but never made enough and had to convo feed. Thank you for reminding me I’m not alone.
