Vulnerability looks different on everyone.

Yo! 👋🏽 Have you ever felt that little flutter of fear before hitting that little red button on your phone to record a dance that’s trending? 🫠 I totally get it! For me, as a plus-size individual, it can feel extra nerve-wracking to let loose & been seen. But guess what? Vulnerability is where the magic happens! 🌟

Dancing is not about perfection; it's about expression, freedom, and celebrating YOU! It's about stepping out of that comfy little bubble and showing the world what you working with, baby. 💃🏽✨

So, whether you're hitting the club, grooving at home, dancing like nobody's watching in your kitchen, or bathroom 🙊 remember: YOUR BODY IS MEANT TO MOVE! 🌈

🌟 Let’s shatter those stereotypes and show the world what real joy looks like! Who’s with me? 🙌🏾 #blackgirllemon8 #plussize #bodypositivity ✨Outfit: #VulnerabilityIsStrength #selflove

... Read moreYou know, that feeling of having two left feet, or thinking everyone's watching? I used to feel that constantly, especially as a plus-size woman. The idea of hitting 'record' for a dance trend, or even just letting loose in front of others, felt like climbing Mount Everest! But honestly, I realized that fear was holding me back from so much joy. One day, I just thought, 'What's the worst that can happen?' I put on my favorite upbeat playlist – think Beyoncé, Lizzo, some classic disco – and just started swaying in my living room. No audience, just me and the music. It felt awkward at first, like I was moving in slow motion, but then something clicked. The music took over, and I wasn't thinking about how my body looked, only how it *felt*. That's when I heard it, almost like a whisper in my mind, 'Get up here. Let's dance!' It was my inner self, urging me to just *move*. If you're hesitant, here are a few things that really helped me. First, start at home. Seriously, close the curtains, put on some tunes, and just let go. Don't try to learn complicated choreography at first. Just move your body in any way that feels good. Sway, jump, spin – whatever. The goal isn't to be a professional dancer; it's to reconnect with your body and find your rhythm. Second, find music that truly makes you feel something. Music has this incredible power to bypass our inhibitions and just make us want to move. Explore different genres! You might surprise yourself with what gets your feet tapping. Third, try using a mirror, but not to critique. Use it to see yourself *moving*. See the joy, the energy, the freedom. It's a powerful way to build body confidence. It’s about celebrating what your body *can do*, not what you think it 'should' look like. Dancing isn't just about physical movement; it's a powerful form of therapy. It's a way to release stress, boost your mood, and really connect with your inner self. For me, it's been instrumental in my body positivity journey. Moving my body with intention and joy has helped me appreciate its strength and its ability to carry me through life. It’s a constant reminder that my body is a vessel for experience and expression, not just something to be judged. So, if you’re reading this and feeling that little nudge, I encourage you: 'Get up here. Let's dance!' Don't let fear dictate what you do or don't do. Your body is a wonderful instrument, and it deserves to be celebrated, expressed, and moved. Let's shatter those silly beauty standards one joyful dance move at a time. What’s your go-to song for an instant dance party?
