Music Challenge Day 18
I've heard more live but I picked this one because when I was a teen I got to work backstage for this concert. My boyfriend at the time had connections so he was able to get us on working as stage crew for a Big & Rich concert. It was being held in a rodeo arena so we had to help get the whole stage built and set up. Because of our age there were somethings we couldn't do, but they made sure to keep us busy. It was hot and a lot of work to get ready for but completely worth it! Especially once the tour busses showed up and the concert started. Two Foot Fred was also buzzing around the back lot part of the time in one of his special made vehicles but I can't really remember what one it was. But as a teen everything that happened that- no matter what it was- was epic. 😅
Working backstage at a Big & Rich concert offers a rare glimpse into the intense preparations and collaborative effort that go into staging such a large-scale live performance. Held in a rodeo arena, these concerts require constructing the entire stage from the ground up, which involves heavy physical labor and meticulous coordination among the crew. For younger stagehands, restrictions on certain tasks ensure safety but still allow them to contribute meaningfully to the process. The song "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)," which can be heard in Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience, is a fan favorite often performed live by Big & Rich. The energy surrounding this hit resonates not only in the sound but also in the bustling backstage activity. Characters like Two Foot Fred, known for his custom vehicles and lively presence, add unique flavor to the backlot environment, making the experience even more unforgettable. For teens involved in such concerts, every moment is amplified by the thrill of being close to the music scene and the performers. Handling the setup in hot conditions sharpens teamwork and introduces the realities of touring life. The arrival of tour buses and the start of the concert mark the transition from preparation to performance, offering a front-row perspective on the hard work that culminates in the final show. Sharing this kind of personal music challenge story connects fans to behind-the-scenes action and highlights how live concerts are more than just entertainment; they are vivid life experiences filled with camaraderie, effort, and unforgettable memories.
