Fuji * * Agricultural bird * * is a snow-shaped figure that appears on the surface of the mountain when the remaining snow melts from spring to early summer. It is particularly known as a phenomenon seen from the Yamanashi Prefecture side of Mt. Fuji.
In the past, people used this snow shape as a guide to start rice planting and agricultural work. Therefore, it came to be called "a bird that informs agricultural work" = agricultural bird. It was like a nature calendar.
It is easy to see mainly from late May to June, and the shape and time change depending on the amount of snow and the temperature of the year. In Yamanashi Prefecture, it is often talked about from around Kawaguchiko and Fujiyoshida City.
When agricultural birds appear, it is popular locally as a feature of "early summer" and "rice planting season."
富士山の農鳥は、ただの美しい雪形ではありません。私自身、山梨県の富士吉田市に住んでいて、毎年この農鳥が現れる頃になると、春から初夏への季節の変わり目を実感します。農鳥が見えると、地域の人々は田植えの準備を始めたり、家族で農作業の日程を話し合ったりと、自然と共に暮らすリズムが感じられます。 また農鳥は、その年の積雪量や気温によって形や出現時期が変わるため、地元の気象情報の一つとしても興味深いです。今年は暖かい日が続いた影響で、例年よりも早く現れたのが話題になりました。私も週末に河口湖周辺へ出かけ、青空と富士山にくっきり浮かぶ農鳥を写真に収めることができました。自然のカレンダーとして、農鳥の姿は地元の人々だけでなく観光客にも季節の訪れを伝える大切な風物詩です。 この農鳥の美しい形を見ることで、私たちは昔の人々が自然とともに暮らしていた知恵や時間の流れを感じ取ることができます。もし山梨へ訪れる機会があれば、農鳥が見られる時期に富士山の眺望スポットを訪れてみてはいかがでしょうか。季節 の移ろいを肌で感じられる貴重な体験になること間違いありません。農鳥が知らせる初夏の訪れを、ぜひ実感してみてください。
