Let’s Talk Menstruation

There are a LOT of products targeted to women for their cycles/feminine care and yet not enough education behind it. In school we are taught the basics of periods. It was very much taboo and even a bit shameful to speak of. Even down to the ads on tv! We would see blue liquid poured onto a pad or soaking a tampon never red. Now that times have changed women are able to be more vocal about menstruation.

Most big name brand products marketed towards women such as Always, Kotex, and Poise have been found to contain several chemicals. Styrene: Carcinogen

Chloromethane: Reproductive Toxicant and much more!

Here are some alternatives that are made without dyes, fragrance, GMO, and Chlorine!

CORA ~ (my favorite brand thus far and being someone with a heavier flow she gets the job done!) They offer pads, liners, and pads.

The Honeypot ~ (I personally use the non-herbal pads) offer a plethora of options to choose from.

MAXIM ~ offer tampons, pads, liners, and underwear.

Flex Menstrual Disc

Period Panties

Cups

Reusable Cotton Cloth Pads (I myself haven’t gotten this comfortable yet but maybe one day!)

Yes I know those big name brands now offer cotton, and dye free options but why didn’t they sell those from the start?! I’m SUSPICIOUS 😂

If you have any recommendations I’m always open to trying something new!

Some women have found that their cramps, and even length lessened when they made the switch. I myself noticed my cramps have gotten lighter, and my flow is lighter! *I know this may also be in combination of working out, and drinking teas/eating habits (I’ll make a separate post)!

If you are someone who has made the switch what are the benefits or cons you’ve experienced?

... Read moreIn an age where menstrual health is gaining more attention, conversations surrounding it are crucial. Many women still find themselves confused about the best products for their cycles. Traditional menstrual care products, like those from Always and Kotex, contain chemicals that can be harmful, prompting a significant shift towards safer, more transparent alternatives. Brands like CORA and The Honeypot are leading the charge—providing organic, chemical-free options that prioritize women's health. For instance, CORA offers a range of products including pads and liners, made from organic cotton without dyes or fragrances. Similarly, The Honeypot provides a variety of menstrual products tailored to different needs, ensuring everyone can find something suitable. The rising popularity of period panties, menstrual cups, and reusable cotton cloth pads reflects a growing trend towards sustainability and health-conscious choices. These products not only help in reducing waste but can also lessen menstrual cramps and discomfort—as numerous users have reported. It’s important to recognize the changes in the market and the growing willingness among brands to cater to women’s needs authentically. As women share their experiences, the conversation around menstruation is evolving, breaking down the taboos of previous generations. Sharing experiences and product recommendations can empower others to make informed choices about their menstrual health—creating a community that supports and uplifts one another in a journey towards better female health practices.
