... Read moreArroz Con Leche is a beloved traditional dessert in many Latin cultures, known for its creamy texture and warm cinnamon flavor. I’ve found that rinsing the rice thoroughly before cooking helps remove excess starch, preventing the pudding from becoming too thick or gummy. One tip I’d share from my experience is to simmer the rice with cinnamon sticks from the start to infuse the milk with deeper spice notes. Even if you forget to add them earlier, as mentioned in the original recipe, garnishing with ground cinnamon at the end still adds that signature aroma. Using a combination of evaporated milk, condensed milk, and whole milk creates the perfect balance of richness and sweetness without overwhelming the palate. If you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute whole milk with low-fat milk, though it might slightly alter the creaminess. When cooking the rice, keep the heat at a gentle boil and stir occasionally to prevent the mixture from sticking to the pan. Letting it cook just enough so the rice is soft but not mushy is key. For extra texture and flavor, some people like adding raisins or chopped nuts towards the end of cooking. I personally enjoy topping a bowl with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to enhance the sweetness and add a little crunch. Overall, Arroz Con Leche is a versatile dessert that’s easy to customize and perfect for family gatherings or a cozy treat at home. It’s simple to make but fills the kitchen with inviting aromas that bring back fond memories.
