... Read moreHey everyone! So, you saw the pic, and yes, Roach is officially (kinda) back! I'm so thrilled to finally share more details about my Call of Duty Roach cosplay. This character has always been a favorite of mine – that iconic, mysterious look just screams tactical operative, right? Building this cosplay was such an adventure, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into what went into creating this look. Let's start with the headgear! Finding the right helmet with goggles combo was key. I spent ages online looking for something authentic-looking that also felt comfortable enough to wear for hours. The tactical goggles needed to have that classic dark tint, and fitting them securely to the helmet without looking clunky was a mini-project in itself. For the face covering, I opted for a breathable balaclava that I could easily pull up or down. It’s amazing how much a simple piece of fabric can add to the intensity of the character! Then came the tactical vest. Oh man, the vest! This was probably the most fun part to assemble. I wanted something modular, with plenty of pouches and compartments, just like Roach's in the game. Sourcing the right kind of durable, military-grade fabric was a bit of a challenge, but totally worth it for the authentic feel. And of course, the highlight for me was adding that custom 'YOU READ MY PATCH' patch. It’s such a subtle nod to the character’s vibe, and I just love how it turned out. It’s those little details that really bring a cosplay to life, don't you think? I spent a lot of time weathering the vest too, to give it that worn, battle-hardened look. A bit of sandpaper, some dark paint washes, and voila – instant combat veteran aesthetics! For anyone thinking of tackling a COD cosplay, my biggest tip is to really focus on the layers and the functionality. Even if you're not planning on running through a battlefield, making sure all the gear looks like it could be used makes a huge difference. Don't be afraid to mix and match different pieces you find. I actually found some great deals at army surplus stores that helped complete the look without breaking the bank. I also made sure to pick up some durable cargo pants and sturdy tactical boots to complete the lower half of the outfit. They might not be as flashy as the vest or helmet, but they're essential for grounding the entire look and making it feel cohesive. Also, pay attention to how the gear drapes and fits; it can drastically change the silhouette and how authentic your character appears. When it came to shooting the photo, I really tried to capture that intense, low-light atmosphere. Getting that low angle shot with the purple lighting was intentional to give it a dramatic, almost cinematic feel, just like you’d see in the game. It really helps to set the mood and highlight the tactical elements of the costume. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the cosplay!
