Spending a few days in Guatemala offers an unforgettable blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture. One of the highlights is definitely Lake Atitlan, surrounded by volcanoes and quaint villages where you can unwind and enjoy spectacular views. I personally found the mornings a bit chilly, with temperatures dipping to around 43°F, which made my early coffee moments at Little Spoon even more comforting. The chicken & waffles there were a game changer—I'd happily have that breakfast every day! Before leaving, I enjoyed a refreshing strawberry banana smoothie combined with fresh watermelon, lime, and mint that perfectly quenched my thirst. Taking in the lake views one last time while waiting for the shuttle to Antigua was a bittersweet moment. Antigua itself is a treasure filled with colorful colonial buildings and cozy cafes like Villa Cafe, where I stayed at a charming Airbnb. Dining at El Adobe was also a memorable experience—their Modelo beer and local dishes earned a perfect 10/10 in my book. Traveling between these spots is easy, and each destination offers unique experiences that capture the essence of Guatemala travel. Whether you want to explore historic towns, savor local cuisine, or simply relax by a lake, this itinerary has something for every traveler. Don't forget to pack layered clothing to handle those cool mornings and be ready to dive into the rich culture and warm hospitality this country offers. For anyone planning a trip here, I highly recommend allocating enough time to fully absorb both the tranquil vibe of Lake Atitlan and the vibrant life of Antigua—both places left a lasting impression on me and are sure to do the same for you.
