day 2 in mexico city and we took some Ls 😅
coyoacan market, odette bakery
During my recent trip to Mexico City, I made sure to spend a day wandering through the lively Coyoacan Market, a spot teeming with local color and charm. The market is known not only for its unique artisanal crafts but also for its variety of fresh foods and vibrant atmosphere. One of my favorite finds was the selection of Mexican jewelry and hand-crafted souvenirs which made perfect gifts and keepsakes. I particularly enjoyed sampling some traditional Mexican snacks and beverages like aguas frescas, a refreshing fruit-based drink that is perfect for the city's warm climate. The local vendors are friendly and eager to share stories behind their creations, which really adds to the cultural experience. A highlight was visiting Odette Bakery—famous for its exquisite rolls and pastries, especially the raspberry roll which I found absolutely life-changing. The bakery also offers a great selection of specialty coffees including matcha and chai, which are perfect accompaniments to their sweet treats. Although we took some Ls (losses) during our adventure, such as a disappointing dinner at a Wingstop, the overall vibe and discoveries in Coyoacan more than made up for it. This neighborhood is also steeped in history, famously linked to Frida Kahlo, which adds to the artistic and cultural vibe that attracts travelers like myself. If you plan to visit, I recommend going early to avoid the crowds, taking plenty of time to explore the artisanal shops, and making sure to try the local food offerings. Coyoacan’s blend of culture, cuisine, and crafts makes it a memorable part of any Mexico City trip.
