I saw a few people confused, but once you get both, you're good to go. It cost me $12 to enter, which felt like a steal for such an amazing experience. Wear comfy shoes because there's a bit of a walk up – it’s a fairly steep incline, but the path is well-maintained and shaded in parts. Take your time, enjoy the ascent, and trust me, the views from the top are worth every single step. Once inside Chapultepec Castle, you're transported back in time. Walking through the halls, seeing the opulent rooms, and imagining the lives of emperors and presidents who once resided there is just fascinating. The castle is not just a building; it's a museum of national history, so you'll find exhibits detailing Mexico's past. The OCR captured it perfectly, mentioning 'walking through colonial and and royalty one place so much just wandering taking photos corner looks stunning.' Every corner truly offers a stunning photo opportunity, from the intricate stained-glass windows depicting historical events to the grand staircases and lush rooftop gardens. Don't rush through it; take your time to soak in the atmosphere and read the plaques (many are in English too!). My favorite part was imagining all the royal gatherings that must have taken place in those grand ballrooms. The views from the terrace, overlooking Paseo de la Reforma, are simply iconic. Another thing I loved was exploring the surrounding Bosque de Chapultepec. It's not just about the castle; the entire park is a massive green oasis in the middle of Mexico City, often called its 'lungs.' After my castle visit, I took a leisurely stroll, people-watching and enjoying the vibrant energy. You could easily spend a whole day just exploring the park, maybe even rent a paddle boat on the lake, visit the zoo, or one of the other fantastic museums like the National Museum of Anthropology, which is also nearby. For me, pairing the castle with the delicious breakfast of avocado toast and chilaquiles I had earlier in the day made it a truly perfect day. The flavors of Mexico, followed by such a deep dive into its history, felt like a complete cultural immersion. It’s such a unique historical site, and knowing it’s 'the only real imperial castle in North America' makes it even more special. I felt so grateful to experience such a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty all in one place. Make sure to factor in enough time – at least 2-3 hours for the castle itself – to truly appreciate this magnificent landmark.
