Things to do in Puerto Rico ✨🇵🇷

... Read moreWow, Puerto Rico truly captured my heart! If you're planning a trip, get ready for an island paradise brimming with history, natural beauty, and vibrant culture. I wanted to share my absolute favorite experiences and some practical tips that really made my vacation unforgettable. First up, you have to explore Old San Juan. Walking through its colorful cobblestone streets felt like stepping back in time. Don't miss El Morro and Castillo de San Cristóbal – the views are incredible, and the history is so rich. I loved just wandering, popping into artisan shops, and grabbing a delicious mofongo at a local spot. It's truly a must-do activity! For nature lovers, a visit to El Yunque National Forest is essential. It's the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, and it's absolutely breathtaking. We hiked to a waterfall and even took a refreshing dip. Make sure to wear good shoes and bring bug spray! It's one of those unique things to do in Puerto Rico that you'll remember forever. If you're into beaches (and who isn't?), Puerto Rico has some stunners. We spent a day near Fajardo and took a boat trip to Flamenco Beach on Culebra, which is often ranked among the world's best. The bioluminescent bay tour in Fajardo is another magical excursion – seeing the water glow at night was an out-of-this-world experience! For surfing, I heard amazing things about Rincón on the west coast, though we didn't make it there this trip. Further south, Ponce offers a different vibe with its neoclassical architecture and art museums. I wish we had more time to explore its unique charm. And talking about unique, have you heard about the coffee haciendas in the Cordillera Central near Utuado? That's definitely on my list for next time! Exploring the central mountains offers a cooler climate and stunning landscapes. Beyond the main attractions, don't forget to savor the local cuisine. Empanadillas, bacalaitos, and fresh seafood are everywhere. We even found some fantastic local markets. A few Puerto Rico travel tips I picked up: Renting a car gives you so much freedom to explore, especially if you want to venture beyond San Juan to places like Aguadilla, Isabella, or even the lesser-known tranquil spots near Guayama. Always carry cash for smaller vendors, and don't be afraid to try out your Spanish – locals are generally very friendly and appreciative. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, Puerto Rico truly has it all. I hope these insights help you plan your own amazing Puerto Rico vacation! It's one of those places you'll want to return to again and again.

Easily my favorite waterfall so far, thos fall is about an hour drive from San Juan and well worth it. It's tucked away in the mountains of San Lorenzo but easily accessible. it is on private property, so there are ours when it's closed to the public. #sanlorenzopr #puertorico #puert
