... Read moreHey fellow 'The 100' fans! If you're anything like me, you've probably spent countless hours debating which season truly stands out. With 7 seasons in total, this show gave us so much to unpack, from survival on a nuclear-ravaged Earth to intergalactic travel. I recently rewatched the entire series, and it inspired me to finally put my thoughts down and share my personal ranking of The 100 seasons. It's tough, because each season brought its own unique challenges and character developments, but some just resonated more!
The journey of The 100 began with juvenile delinquents sent to a post-apocalyptic Earth, evolving into a complex saga of survival and morality. We saw them face grounders, Mount Weather, Praimfaya, and eventually discover new planets via mysterious wormholes. An incredible ride!
Here’s a deeper dive into why I ranked them this way, from my least favorite to my absolute top pick:
Season 2 (Ranked 7th): While it introduced the Ark people's struggles and Finn's death was major, I found this season a bit slow and, dare I say, boring compared to the others. It had its moments, but didn't grab me as much on rewatch.
Season 6 (Ranked 6th): Exploring a new planet with a red sun was visually stunning, but the plot, especially with the Primes and mind-drives, felt hard to follow. I struggled to fully connect with the new challenges presented to Clarke Griffin and the crew.
Season 3 (Ranked 5th): This season gave us the intense City of Light arc and the devastating, yet impactful, Lexa's death. However, Jasper's struggles were difficult to witness, and some plot choices made it a divisive season for me.
Season 7 (Ranked 4th): The final season was ambitious, taking us across different worlds via wormholes and introducing new alien races. Despite the shock of Bellamy's death and a somewhat controversial ending, I appreciated the continued character development and the attempt at a grand conclusion. The golden artifact storyline was cool!
Season 1 (Ranked 3rd): The one that started it all! This season is iconic for establishing the raw struggle for survival on Earth. While some early acting might feel a little cringy upon rewatching, the foundation it laid and the core group's initial journey is brilliant and full of nostalgic appeal.
Season 4 (Ranked 2nd): This season was a relentless, high-stakes race against Praimfaya, pushing characters to their limits with impossible choices, including the nightbloods dilemma. The urgency and ultimate sacrifices made it incredibly intense, providing an epic finale.
Season 5 (Ranked 1st): For me, Season 5 takes the top spot. The time jump was a genius move, introducing new dynamics with Wonkru, Diyoza, and Octavia's transformation. The strained relationship between Clarke and Madi, coupled with their fight for survival before leaving Earth, made for compelling television.
