Life Thoughts, Tuesday - 4-21-26
Hi. Welcome to Life Thoughts.
Carlin talked a lot about how little control we actually have in our lives. Think about this statement of his, “The politicians are there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice!” We all know who really runs the government. With the merger after merger of corporations, we are spoon fed what the oligarchs want us to know. The media, all of the media is owned by five billionaires. The prices of everything are controlled by these huge conglomerates. The price of gas exploded over our bombing of Iran. The US imports virtually zero gallons of oil from there, yet, the prices exploded. Keep thinking we have freedom of choice.
As always, be nice, be safe, and laugh a lot!
Talk tomorrow.
If you find value in my videos or even if they just make you laugh or think, please share them. I want to reach as many people as I can. Thank you for watching.

Reflecting on the idea that our choices are often shaped rather than freely made, I've found that being aware of these influences helps me navigate daily life with a clearer perspective. For example, understanding how a handful of corporations control much of the media and essential goods can explain why we sometimes feel powerless or overwhelmed by political and economic events. It's like watching a play where the script rarely changes for the audience's benefit. One practical step I've taken is to diversify where I get my information. Instead of relying solely on mainstream news, I try to explore independent media and various viewpoints to form my own educated opinion. This has not only broadened my awareness but also reduced frustration when I encounter conflicting narratives. Regarding economic impacts like the spikes in gas prices linked to geopolitical tensions—even those involving countries from which we import very little oil—I remind myself that these market reactions often serve broader corporate strategies. Recognizing this pattern helps me manage my expectations and focus on what I can control, such as budgeting wisely and reducing unnecessary expenses. Ultimately, while it's easy to feel trapped by these overwhelming forces, choosing kindness, safety, and laughter as daily practices has helped me maintain resilience. Sharing these reflections with others, whether through discussion or social media, also creates a sense of community and empowerment. Life might feel constrained by larger systems, but cultivating gratitude and connection fosters a meaningful, fulfilling experience despite them.
