Life Thoughts, Tuesday - 5-12-26
Hi, Here’s a Life Thought.
People will humiliate themselves for a sense of belonging. Don’t “bark” for a seat at a table that doesn’t respect your humanity. In a way, this sounds almost like pledging a fraternity, doesn’t it?
As always, be nice, be safe, and laugh a lot!
Talk tomorrow.
If you find value in my videos or even if they just make you laugh or think, please share them. I want to reach as many people as I can. Thank you for watching.

In my personal journey, I've noticed how powerful the need for belonging can be and how it sometimes tempts us to compromise on our values or self-worth. The idea of 'barking for a seat at a table' that doesn’t respect who you are resonates deeply because many of us have experienced situations where we felt pressured to diminish ourselves just to fit in or gain acceptance. What I've learned over time is that true belonging comes from authentic connections where respect for each other's humanity is foundational. It's not about joining just any group or conforming to social expectations; rather, it's about seeking relationships and communities that celebrate who you genuinely are. This approach has helped me avoid the trap of humiliation for acceptance and instead focus on building bonds based on mutual respect and kindness. Practicing gratitude daily has been a transformative habit for me. It shifts focus from what I might lack or where I don’t fit in, to appreciating the richness of connections that are respectful and uplifting. Also, incorporating humor and laughter into life’s challenges lightens the emotional weight and strengthens resilience. If you ever feel compelled to change yourself to be accepted, pause and reflect—ask if the group honors your humanity and deserves your presence. It's perfectly okay to walk away from places that require you to 'bark' for acknowledgment. Being safe and kind to yourself and others helps create a positive space where genuine belonging can flourish. So, laugh often, be yourself unapologetically, and seek out the tables where you are welcomed as you are.
